A regular meeting of the Mayfield Town Board was held on Thursday, October 04, 2007 at the Mayfield Municipal Complex 28 North School Street. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Supervisor Alan McLain and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

PRESENT:

Alan McLain, Supervisor

Richard Argotsinger, Councilman

Jack Putman, Councilman

 

ABSENT: Katherine Sieg, Councilwoman

                 Walter Ryan, Councilman

 

OTHERS PRESENT: Betty Tabor Historian, Bill Guido, Mel Dopp

 

PUBLIC- Bill Guido stated that the Bushnell Road Bridge has been started.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS/ UPDATES- NONE

 

SUPERVISOR'S REPORT-

BUSHNELL ROAD BRIDGE has been started.

POST OFFICE PROGRESS REPORT lease has been signed.

HUCKANS EASEMENT REQUEST-

Supervisor McLain told the board a formal request will be coming for an easement on Lakeview Road for a sewer project.

SUPERVISOR'S TENATIVE BUDGET was submitted to the board with no tax rate increase at this time.

A small discussion was held on a few changes that may be made, but shouldn't change the rate.

 

RES# 122 APPROVAL OF RESIGNATION OF MICHELLE BUCKLEY

On motion by Councilman Putman and seconded by Councilman Argotsinger the following resolution was ADOPTED 3 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman) 2 ABSENT (Ryan, Sieg)

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves the resignation of Michelle Buckley, Deputy Clerk, effective October 5, 2007.

 

RES# 123 APPROVAL OF APPOINTMENT OF CHERYL GIFFORD

On motion by Councilman Argotsinger and seconded by Councilman Putman the following resolution was ADOPTED 3 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman) 2 ABSENT (Ryan, Sieg)

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves the appointment of Cheryl Gifford, Deputy Clerk, at $12.00 per hour effective October 1, 2007.

 

Supervisor McLain reported that the Town Offices will be closed in observance of Columbus Day.

Supervisor McLain reported that census work will begin and explained how the process will work.

 

A small discussion was held on the Dennie Road bridge.

Councilman Argotsinger reported that he had spoken with the towns of Broadalbin and Perth regarding blacktopping. Both towns contract their blacktopping out.

 

Shawn Humphrey entered the meeting at 7:20 PM.

 

Councilman Putman questioned how much fund balance the town was using.

 

RES# 124 APPROVE SUPERVISOR'S TENATIVE BUDGET

On motion by Councilman Argotsinger and seconded by Councilman Putman the following resolution was ADOPTED 3 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman) 2 ABSENT (Ryan, Sieg)

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves the Supervisor's tentative budget.

 

PUBLIC/ OTHER

Councilman Putman questioned if a meeting had been set for the committee to discuss changes in the zoning law. Planning board chairman Vadney is supposed to be coordinating the meeting.

Mel Dopp asked the board to visit the end of Beech Street where the road is in need of repair.  He believes this may end up being a huge project that will need to be done.

 

RES# 125 MOVE INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION

On motion by Councilman Argotsinger and seconded by Councilman Putman the resolution was ADOPTED 3 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman) 2 ABSENT (Ryan, Sieg)

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to move into executive session at 7:45 PM to discuss the work history of an employee.

 

RES# 126 MOVE OUT OF EXECUTIVE SESSION

On motion by Councilman Argotsinger and seconded by Councilman Putman the following resolution was ADOPTED 3 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman) 2 ABSENT (Ryan, Sieg)

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to move out of executive session and back into regular session at 8:18PM.

 

On motion by Councilman Argotsinger and seconded by Councilman Putman the meeting was adjourned at 8:19PM 3AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman) 2 ABSENT (Ryan, Sieg)
