A regular meeting of the Mayfield Town Board was held on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the Mayfield Municipal Complex 28 N School Street. The meeting was called to order at 7PM and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Supervisor Alan McLain.

PUBLIC- No one spoke at this time.

 

BUILDING INSPECTOR REPORT- Mike Stewart CEO submitted his monthly report which included 9 permits issued this month and an unsafe building report was submitted.

 

RES# 78 DECLARE HOUSE ON LATHROP ROAD AS UNSAFE AS DEFINED BY LAW

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilman Putman the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Ryan, Sieg, Argotsinger, Putman) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to declare a house on Lathrop Road SBL#120.4-4-5 unsafe as defined by law.

 

RES# 79 SET PUBLIC HEARING FOR PROPOSED LOCAL LAW # 3 0F 2007 SOCIAL HOST LAW

On motion by Councilwoman Sieg and seconded by Councilman Putman the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to set a public hearing on June 7th at 7:15PM for proposed local law # 3of 2007, Social Host Law.

 

COMMITTEE UPDATES

Supervisor McLain reported that the Highway Committee needed to set a policy on installing new culverts by new property owners and report back.

 

BEACH- Councilman Ryan reported that Sue Warner had contacted all former beach employees and 3 will not be returning. The recommendation of the beach committee was to go with seven lifeguards.

 

RES# 80 APPOINTMENT OF BEACH DIRECTOR & LIFEGUARDS FOR 2007

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilwoman Sieg the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves the appointment of the following beach staff for 2007

Susan Warner                           Director                                    $435.00 weekly

Desiree Harnish                        Head Lifeguard             $10.60 per hour

Sarah Brand                             head Lifeguard              $10.60 per hour

Megan Olds                             Lifeguard                                  $9.80 per hour

Joseph Tychostop                     Lifeguard                                  $9.80 per hour

FARM LAW- A small discussion was held on the proposed law .The board was hopeful that they would have more information on it in the near future.

 

WATER DISTRICT- Councilman Ryan reported the town has received 5 responses back in favor of forming a water district from the letters that were sent to the 9 property owners. A discussion followed with the recommendation being to retain Steve Smith Engineering.

 

RES# 81 APPROVAL TO RETAIN STEVE SMITH ENGINEERING

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilman Argotsinger the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to retain Steve Smith Engineering per contract for engineering services to start preliminary water district to nine homes on Lakeside Drive.

 

UPDATES

Supervisor McLain reported that the Bushnell Road Bridge bids were opened on May 11th. The engineer is still working on verifying information and should have the results at our June meeting.

The old garbage truck has still not been picked up, nor has the town received the check from the company.

A new site plan has been received for the Post Office. A small discussion followed on whether the town felt there was enough parking for the public. The supervisor will contact the postal service regarding the board's concerns.

 

Town Clerk report was submitted with fees collected in the A account $523.41 B account $604.07 Decals $6.58

 

RES# 82 APPROVAL OF PAYMENT OF VOUCHERS

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilwoman Sieg the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves the payment of vouchers in the following accounts

A account                     vouchers 134-160                                $14,007.43

B account                     vouchers 37-43                                    $491.16

DB account                  vouchers 50-68                                    $146,559.15

 

PUBLIC/ OTHER

Carl Edwards asked permission for the Bannertown 50 plus Club to have a picnic at the Mayfield Town Beach on July 11th. Supervisor McLain commented he thought it would be nice for this group to be able to use the beach and at no cost. The Board approved the request and at no cost to the club.

 

Betty Tabor Historian requested that the post at the cemetery on Vandenburgh Point Road be repaired. The supervisor will ask Tom Ruliffson to take care of it.

 

Councilman Ryan made a suggestion that someone from the town board attend the Village Board meetings. A small discussion followed on this.

 

Councilman Putman reported that Tom Ruliffson, Eric LeClar and himself had visited the Dennie Road Bridge that was in question and need to repair. Erik will give the town a proposal to repair.

 

RES# 83 MOVE INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilman Putman the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to move into executive session at 7:40 PM for the purpose of employee work history.

 

RES#84 MOVE OUT OF EXECUTIVE SESSION

On motion by Councilwoman Sieg and seconded by Councilman Putman the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to move out of executive session and back into regular session at 8:47PM.

 

The supervisor has directed the policy committee to look into hiring policies for the town and come back with a recommendation for one. 

 

On motion by Councilman Argotsinger and seconded by Councilman Ryan the meeting was adjourned at 8:49PM ADOPTED (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS
