A regular meeting of the Mayfield Town Board was held on Thursday, April 20, 2007 at the Mayfield Municipal Complex 28 North School Street. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for the victims of Virginia Tech led Supervisor McLain.

OTHERS PRESENT: Melvyn Dopp, Tom Ruliffson Highway Superintendent, Myrna Hallenbeck, Carol Jablonski, Mike Stewart CEO, Tony Pastore Recorder

 

PUBLIC- Carol Jablonski of Berry Road spoke about the bad condition especially the guard rails on the Dennie Road Bridge which were hit by the snowplow. Highway Super Ruliffson stated he will get to work on repairs to the bridge ASAP.

 

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDENT REPORT- Tom Ruliffson Highway Superintendent reported that the new plow truck should be arriving soon. All trucks have been washed and cleaned. Also the blacktop prices have remained the same as last year.

A culvert on Priddle Point road has been reported as needing replacing. Tom thanked the board for getting the Highway Department a new one ton dump truck.

 

BUILDING INSPECTOR- Mike Stewart CEO submitted his monthly report which included 8 permits was issued for the month.

 

RES# 70 APPROVAL OF LOCAL LAW NO.2 OF THE YEAR 2007

On motion by Councilwoman Sieg and seconded by Councilman Ryan the following resolution was ADOPTED by roll call vote 5AYES 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to accept local law no. 2 of the year 2007 providing for the administration and enforcement of the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code.

 

A small discussion was held on the Dimark property on St Hwy 30.

 

HISTORIAN REPORT- Betty Tabor asked the board if she could attend a conference in New Hartford.

 

RES# 71 ACCEPT REQUEST OF TOWN HISTORIAN TO ATTEND CONFERENCE

On motion by Councilwoman Sieg and seconded by Councilman Argotsinger the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to accept the request of the town Historian to attend conference and all expenses will come from her budget.

 

ASSESSOR- the Assessor's report was submitted although she was not in attendance due to having minor surgery.

 

SUPERVISOR- Supervisor McLain gave his report, including;  the Social Host Law which he presented to the board members for consideration and asked them to review and he would ask to introduce it as a new law at the next meeting;  engineering services for Lakeside Drive water district was explained by Councilman Ryan. Census meeting update was explained, Bushnell Road Bridge bids will be available starting 4/23 with bids opened on 5/11 at 10AM, URS Environmental will be coming to inspect the old Village Hall on 4/23 at 9AM, Website training 4/25 10:00 AM, letter from Regional Animal Shelter was received asking the town to submit a letter that the town would negotiate with them.

 

RES# 72 APPROVE TO JOIN THE GSLA ASSOC

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilwoman Sieg the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to join the Great Sacandaga Lake Association.

 

Attorney Greco has sent a letter to the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corp requesting that they submit proof to the town by June 1st that they have workman's compensation.

 

RES# 73 ACCEPT LETTER OF RESIGNATION

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilman Argotsinger the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to accept the resignation of Dorothy Hart as cleaning person effective April 30th.

 

RES# 74 APPOINT DIANE HENDERSON AS CLEANING PERSON

On motion by Councilwoman Sieg and seconded by Councilman Argotsinger the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approve to appoint Diane Henderson as cleaning person for the Municipal Complex effective May 1st.

 

Supervisor McLain reported that 2 people from the Gloversville Transit had met with him regarding setting up routes in Mayfield. They will be attending the May 3rd meeting to explain.

The Gloversville Water department meeting will be Monday, April 23rd.

 

FINANCIAL

Town Clerk's report was submitted with fees collected in the A account $491.31 B account $3552.86

 

RES# 75 APPROVAL OF VOUCHERS

On motion by Councilwoman Sieg and seconded by Councilman Ryan the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves the payment of vouchers in the following accounts

General Townwide      vouchers 92-133                       $48,193.95

General Outside            vouchers 27-36                        $1,203.89

Highway Townwide      vouchers 10-15                        $25,972.97

Highway Outside          vouchers 34-49                        $10,951.68

 

PUBLIC/ OTHER

Tom Ruliffson Highway Superintendent asked about raking the potholes that are in the beach road. A small discussion followed. He will contact HRRB for permission.

 

On motion by Councilwoman Sieg and seconded by Councilman Putman the meeting was adjourned at 8:15PM 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS
