A regular meeting of the Mayfield Town Board was held on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the Mayfield Municipal Complex 28 North School Street at 7:00 PM.

 

PRESENT

Alan McLain, Supervisor

Richard Argotsinger, Councilman

Jack Putman, Councilman

Walter Ryan, Councilman

Kathy Sieg, Councilwoman

 

OTHERS PRESENT: Betty Tabor Historian, James Cownie, Greg Hitchcock Leader- Herald, Kathi Hillock Assessor, Myrna Hallenbeck, April Sardelli, Brittany Hoffman, Eva Amell, Michael Stewart CEO, Bill Guido

 

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor McLain and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Bill Guido.

 

PUBLIC- Jim Cownie asked the board what phone number should be advertised for people wishing to make appointments for tax preparations.

Bill Guido thanked Supervisor McLain for his latest email on the Bushnell Road Bridge.

 

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

BUILDING INSPECTOR- Mike Stewart CEO submitted his monthly report which included 8 permits issued for the month.

An update on the lift project was given.

A discussion was held on the proposed local law 1of 2007.

 

ASSESSOR REPORT- Kathi Hillock submitted her monthly report which included 21 applications was received for the clerk position. A small discussion followed on who would be setting in on the interviews. Kathi also explained the new veteran's exemption and the projected equalization rate for 2008.

 

RES# 27 APPROVAL TO ADOPT CHANGES TO THE VETERAN'S EXEMPTION AS APPROVED BY THE COUNTY

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilman Putman the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Mayfield approves to adopt the county's veteran exemption which includes a 21,000 exemption for wartime veterans, a combat veteran increase of 14,000. and a disabled veteran an exemption of 70,000.

 

RES# 28 SET PUBLIC HEARING FOR VETERAN'S EXEMPTION CHANGES

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilwoman Sieg the following resolution was ADOPTED 5AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to set a public hearing for the changes to the veteran's exemption on February 15, 2007 at 7:15PM.

 

SUPERVISOR'S REPORT

 

RES# 29 APPROVAL FOR BOOKKEEPER TO ATTEND NEW YORK STATE ASSOCIATION OF TOWNS CONFERENCE

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilwoman Sieg the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves for Lita Hillier Bookkeeper to attend the New York State Association of Town Conference in New York City at a cost of $130.00.

 

Supervisor McLain reported that he has not received any news on the Post office.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Councilwoman Sieg reported that Councilman Argotsinger and she had met with Jane Potts and Dr Bluvas regarding the contract with the town and some changes have been made to the contract.

 

RES # 30 ACCEPT CONTRACT WITH DR BLUVAS PENDING LEGAL

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilman Argotsinger the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves to accept the contract with Dr Bluvas pending approval by legal.

 

RES# 31 APPROVE CONTRACT WITH JANE POTTS DCO

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilwoman Sieg the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

 

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approves the contract with Jane Potts DCO.

 

INVENTORY SHEETS- Councilman Argotsinger reported that inventory sheets have been distributed to each department head.

 

Supervisor McLain thanked Councilwoman Sieg and Town Clerk Dorothy Hart for all their work on the Holiday Gathering.

 

RES # 32 APPROVAL OF PAYMENT OF VOUCHERS

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilman Argotsinger the following resolution was ADOPTED 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS

 

RESOLVED that the Mayfield Town Board approve the payment of vouchers in the following accounts.

General Townwide A                vouchers 1-28                          $15,878.15

General Outside B                    vouchers 1-7                            $575.86

Highway Townwide DA           vouchers 1- 2                           $5,784.97

Highway Outside DB                vouchers1-9                             $6337.15

PUBLIC- Bill Guido asked if the Highway Committee would look at Bushnell Road regarding the pot holes.

 

A discussion was held on the request for the Broadalbin Ambulance and the proposal to the county.

 

On motion by Councilman Ryan and seconded by Councilman Argotsinger the meeting was adjourned at 8:07 PM. 5 AYES (McLain, Argotsinger, Putman, Ryan, Sieg) 0 NAYS
